The Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detectors for LHCb
نویسنده
چکیده
The success of the LHCb experiment depends heavily on particle identification over the momentum range 2−100 GeV/c. To meet this challenge, LHCb uses a Ring Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) system composed of two detectors with three radiators. RICH1 has both aerogel and gas (C4F10) radiators, while RICH2 has only a gas (CF4) radiator. The design of RICH1 is almost complete, whereas RICH2 has been constructed and installed (Nov 2005).

Multianode Photo Multipliers for Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detectors
The 64-channel Multianode Photo Multiplier has been evaluated as a possible choice for the photo detectors of the LHCb Ring Imaging Cherenkov detector. Contributed to the Proceedings of the 30 International Conference on High Energy Physics, 7/27/2000—8/2/2000, Osaka, Japan
متن کاملPerformance of the LHCb Detector during 2010-2011 data taking
The status and performance of the LHCb detector during the physics LHC physics run is described. The LHCb detector has a number of notable features including: 12 micron resolution in the transverse plane on 30-35 track primary vertices, pion and kaon separation from 1 to 100 GeV, and 1 MHz full readout of all subsystems. The detector is being operating above its design luminosity and is compris...
متن کاملMultianode Photo Multiplier Tubes as Photo Detectors for Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detectors
The 64-channel Multianode Photo Multiplier (MaPMT) has been evaluated as a candidate for the LHCb Ring Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) photo detectors. We present result from data taken with a 3x3 array of closely packed MaPMTs mounted onto the RICH 1 prototype vessel, exposed to charged particle beams at CERN, and read out at LHC speed. Using a LED light source, we have performed spatial light scans ...
متن کاملPixel hybrid photon detectors for the LHCb-RICH system
The baseline option for the photon detectors of the LHCb Ring Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) subsystem is the pixel hybrid photon detector (HPD) [1]. Commercially available pixel HPDs do not fully meet the LHCb RICH requirements, namely wide area coverage over 2.6 m, single photon sensitivity in the wavelength range of 200600 nm, channel size of 2.5 x 2.5 mm and a speed compatible with the LHC bunchc...
متن کاملImaging Hybrid Photon Detectors with Minimized Dead Area and Protection Against Positive Ion Feedback
Imaging Hybrid Photon Detectors (HPD) have been developed for integration in large area Cherenkov detectors for high energy physics and astrophysics. The presented designs – developed particularly for the experiments MAGIC, LHCb and AQUA-RICH – comprise very good imaging properties, protection against positive ion feedback and(or) minimum dead area. The underlying innovations are discussed in s...
